Our privacy policy

What information do we collect?

We collect information you choose to give us. You can always lie, of course, in which case, we collect virtually nothing.

In general, we’re keeping up with information that’s relevant to your gardening. This includes possibly your location, your plant proclivities, and your penchant for ornamental grasses. Top-secret stuff.

We also maintain information about how to contact you. This would include possibly your email address, your mobile phone number (for SMS notifications), or your instant-messenger contact information.

We hate spam, too, so we definitely won’t be showing your contact information around all willy-nilly.

How do we protect your information?

Physical security

Each development office is protected by a redundant canine defense system. Should one dog become disabled, each site has a backup dog. The system is tested daily by delivery guys, door-to-door salesmen, and the neighbors.

Data security

The Greenthumbr servers are housed in a top-shelf datacenter in St. Louis, Missouri. They make sure our servers are patched and secure against network-based attacks.

How do we share your information?

Sometimes your information is willingly shared with other users on the site, such as people you’ve denoted as your friends. Less-specific forms of your data, in less identifiable fashion, may be more broadly shared. For example, we may allow your city to be visible, but not your full street address.

We do not share your data with external marketing companies. We may utilize agents for our own marketing or communication efforts, but we won’t sell your name to other companies you have no prior relationship with.

Unless you ask us to. Then we’ll certainly do whatever we can to help you guys chat.
