The base plants database used by Greenthumbr is courtesy of the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA freely provides the Plants DB chock full of useful information about the plants of the US.

Most of the weather and climate information comes by way of the National Weather Service, NOAA, or the National Climatic Data Center.

User-contributed content (UCC)

The users of Greenthumbr create a lot of the content. This includes journal entries, photos, comments and votes, amongst other things.

The creator of any content of course retains their own copyright. They may choose to provide their content to others through the use of a Creative Commons license. Or they may not.

In any case, the Greenthumbr Terms of Service allows Greenthumbr a non-exclusive license to use the user-generated content within Greenthumbr and associated properties.

If it’s not owned by anyone else, the copyright is owned by Greenthumbr. This includes fancy pages like this one, the code that runs on the server, and our secret recipe for making perfect compost in 7 minutes.
