I was potting on some of our larger architectural plants yesterday, when disaster struck. I had just lifted our yucca out of its old pot and was tidying up the rootball, trying to get rid of some the drainage stones that were stuck in amongst the roots when I heard a cracking noise.
I hadn’t noticed but there was damage to main stem, which hadn’t properly healed and was obviously a weak point (I’m guessing that this happened when we moved house, and we hadn’t noticed until now). The main stem broke clean across at this point!
As there were some sucker stems growing near the base of the old main stem I have repotted this and hope that it will take and a new plant will grow, but I have managed to reduce our yucca which was over two metres high to something that doesn’t quite top six inches!

I'm sure the sucker stems will keep it alive. :)
