Pictures from the WNC Herb Fest

Saturday, May 3rd 2008, 10:56pm by Lance

On Friday, my friend Bob and I trotted down to the herb festival for lunch.  Neither of us ended up buying anything except festival food.  But I did capture a few pictures.

Row upon row of flowers and herbs greeted us.

It was a beautiful day, and the colors and smells were great!  The local produce looked really good too - although I have to say I'm a little wary of watermelons in May.  Isn't that a little early for our zone?

Here were some nice container arrangements using found objects.  I really like these kinds of groupings and am curious to read more about container planting after going to the festival.

Lots of really interesting stuff on sale as well.  Things you don't often see at your local Lowe's.  Actually, Things-You'd-Never-See-At-Lowe's, like Feverfew and Motherwort.

And of course, you could get the standard herbs like sage, oregano , etc., including these amazing Valentino Basil plants.  Look at the size of those leaves!

Me
Lance - these are great pictures! I loved the mixed containers. They were very tempting, but I resisted since they are so easy to make.

The valentino basils are so much fun! They use to be a tradition for me, but I actually didn't pick one up this year.

And I somehow missed the unusually early watermelon.
