Really, Really Close Up

So, my good friend Bob just got a new macro lens that he's been showing off.  And I was feeling just a little jealous.  I have to admit it.  I'm kind of a gear whore.  Unfortunately, I just bought myself a nice zoom lens that's a bit more all-purpose than straight-up macro.  I don't have a true macro, and all my money went to the new zoom.  Instead I had to go ghetto.

Here is a picture I took by taking my old 35-80mm cheap kit zoom lens and duct taping a 50mm Nikon f1.8 manual focus lens to the front of it.  Kind of hard to describe.  I'll have to take a picture of it to show you.  But it definitely is not the kind of rig you want to carry around Disney World.

I was amazed at the results.  Here is a very closeup picture of a Lenten Rose.  The same plant shown here.

Things wives hate
Yes, yes, my amazingly cheap, used, light, plastic macro lens from a sketchy manufacturer. The one that I get to shoot with while my daily-driver is in the shop due to a slow and sticky aperture. For the next 3-4 weeks. Oh, fortunate me.

Still, that's a spookily wicked photo you got. I definitely want to see the rig itself.
