When it Pays to be Busy

So for anyone that doesn't know, my husband recently opened a restaurant. I thought my involvement would be pretty minimal but that hasn't really been the case. In short, I haven't been tending to my garden as much as I would've liked to the past couple of weeks. Although one task I've volunteered to do is provide fresh cut flowers....which has been my pleasure.

In today's batch I have wild dasies, yarrow, tansy, valerian and some purple flower I should know the name of.

A few closer looks:

I don't remember my valerian being ever so slightly pink, but I guess it is.

My yarrow is just starting to bloom. Its shape always makes a nice addition to arrangements.

Those daises just look like they are smiling at me. :)

And while I had a little bit of time to myself I checked on my seedlings. I was super excited to see that the asparagus seeds I had given up on had sprouted!

I really had intentions of emptying out these flats but hadn't had time. Its really funny how not tending to your garden can sometimes be a good thing. I've definitely had success with other plants that I left alone as opposed to over tending.

It was so nice to have some time in my garden today!

June - the restuarant is fantastic. Congratulations to Aaron. Also, your flowers look great!
Me.
I had the same thing happen with my blackberry bareroots! I only had 5 out of 13 branch out, but I kept putting off clearing out the dead ones. Then today I noticed I had two more!

Your flowers are beautiful. I'd like to figure out how to do flowers some year.

lance - thanks!

claire - yeah blackberries will definitely take over when you're not looking :) This is my first year doing flowers and I'm just kind of doing it on a whim. Although it would be nice to have a planned flower garden.

Congratulations!
Well maybe...
We did the same thing and enjoyed it.
Food service, from growing, to packing, to serving at the restaurant was fun.
Great when the kids were home.
Now just gardening and consulting.
Enjoy you life!
