Bugs, Blooms and Volunteers

It really is amazing how much happenings in our little yard. From afar you could look at yard and think that nothing has really changed from yesterday, but up close all sort of things are happening.

Today Aaron and I started our stoll by the mailbox garden.

I snapped a shot of our marjoram because I really love it when plants fill in the space between rocks. While we paused here and did a little weeding, I found spotted a black widow.

She wasn't really excited about us being there and quickly moved to protect her nest.

Aaron, who has no trouble doing away with pests, scared her away and destroyed her nest.

So I wandered around the rest of the yard while aaron kept weeding. I'm really loving how bushy and full our pansies are:

I was also excited to see some fuzzy buds on my vitex bush.

Around the corner in my shade garden, my black currant and bleeding heart are doing well.

As soon as I ended up in the back yard I was eager to check out the seeds I planted in my first veggie garden box. Well, nothing was sprouting there, but I was excited to find a couple lettuce volunteers in the next box over:

I really feel like they came out of nowhere! I just weeded this box the other day and they were definitely not there when I was done. While I was hovering over my lettuce volunteers Aaron had me come check out my baby plums.

There are little babies all over the tree. I am so excited! I will be extra excited if I get a plum this year.

For anyone thats been following my plum tree pictures, you'll remember that there have been a couple ladybugs hanging out on this tree. Well, they made friends to day the least. :)

Wow june. That all looks really healthy. The pansies, especially, are full and beautiful! Did you buy starts or were those from seed?
Me
The pansies were starts I put in the ground last fall. And I really have done nothing to maintain them.

The pansies are beautiful!! When would be a good time for me to transplant them to my yard?
