    It might help if you gave us the scientific name of the plant. I think there are a couple of different plants that use the name "butterfly weed." Are you talking about Asclepias? The roots might have frozen in that little pot or it could just be slow to start up in the spring.

    Yes, Asclepias looks like the right plant. It never did come back, so maybe it did freeze if it was suppose to be a perennial.
