Since my last post about Imara:
I have been simply putting her poo into my large compost bin. I had thoughts about adding her waste to the worm compost bin but am concerned that that does not heat up enough to sanitize any urine (litter) clumps that might end up in the pile. I also had thoughts of building a smaller special compost bin, but haven't really made time to look into that.
But today I came across a good piece of info in the latest issue of organic gardening! It says:
"Rabbit waste is like little fertilizer pills, which gradually release their payload. They decompose rapidly and are richer in nutrients than chicken manure, and they're so devoid of contaminants that you can just scatter them around the garden before planting and work them into the soil."
So my plan is put the litter box manure into the compost bin in case of urine contamination. And the ones that land on the towel are my new found fertilizer. :)
