So we have all kinds of stuff bursting open and popping out of the ground. One of my favorite discoveries this weekend was our asparagus!
They showed up right when I was beginning to wonder if they were going to come back. The shoots coming up are also pretty thick, so they will definitely be harvestable. Unfortunately I didn't learn until last year that you really need a ton of plants to get a decent harvest. But I guess 5 homegrown pieces of asparagus is better than none.
I was also delighted to discover that Aaron's good smelling plant is blooming! As the name suggests, it smells good. I really need to figure out what this plant is.
On the topic of good smelly flowers my lilac is in bloom too
Its doing well but I can't wait for it to gt big enough to cover the end of our porch.
This weekend we also went to Reems Creek and not surprisingly came home with some good smelly stuff. Specifically we splurged on an Arizona Cypress.
I love the shape and color of this tree. Aaron loves the fact that its leaves smell like oranges. We're going to put this on the sunny side of our yard. Our plan is to get several of them so that we can create a green border/fence on one edge of our yard. To do this, we'll have to move our raspberry bushes.
Not sure where those are going to go!
My favorite purchase of the plants we bought this weekend, is a Solomon's Seal plant
I don't know much about this plant other than the tag says it likes shade and it can be used medicinally. Aaron mentioned something about it being used in cooking but I don't know much about that either.
I really enjoyed the warm weather we had this weekend and hope it warms back up again soon!
