What a Beautiful Day! Part I: My Morning Stroll

Saturday, March 22nd 2008, 7:52pm by june

Wow, today was soon nice! The perfect day for gardening. I started my outside time taking a walk around the yard to see what else is perking up.

I was really pleased to find that my bleeding heart was already poking out of the ground. Bleeding hearts tend to come to life pretty quickly so I'll probably be sharing flower pictures before you know it.

I was also happy to see that my elderberry bush is starting to sprout. I wanted an elderberry bush long before I received this one and this bush couldn't be more special. It was given to me by friend Jules who has been a huge inspiration and mentor to me when it comes to gardening. She gave it to my husband and I as a wedding present.

My lilac bush also looks ready to throw open some leaves. Lilacs are not really suppose to grow here, but this is a special variety that will grow as a perennials despite our shorter winters.

Great new growth. Don't you get excited seeing new life and knowing your plants made it?
Me
Yes! Definitely! Especially since I did practically no winter care or watering. Not to mention we've been behind on rain for awhile now. I'm very excited that they're back. :)
