june's Gardens
Every spring my seedling collection grows exponentially. I can help it! The idea that I can turn a seed into a plant never ceases to amaze me. My monsterous seed collection and mile long list of things of things I want to grow doesn't help.
We actually do not have a pond yet but have dreamed about putting one in this area for years now. It will be a mini pond of course, as this side of our house isn't very big.
This is also the shadiest part of our yard so we are on a quest to find great shade plants that grow here.
We didn't wait long, after moving into our house, to tear up the back yard. This garden has grown and shrunk mutiple times. Our current mission is to create a collection of boxed raised beds. We find these boxed sections much easier to maintain than the mounds on the ground.
We'd probably have every fruit tree that can grow in our zone if we had more land. In the mean time we've settled for two peach trees, a cherry tree and a plum tree. This occupies one of the back corners of our yard and we've been filling in the area below the trees with plants too.
Early this season this bed had pak choi and spinach. After all of that was harvested I quickly filled it up with herbs from the herb festival and zinnias.
