I think the garlic should keep ants away also. The cayenne could help keep pest deer off too.

I'd almost be tempted to sauté it all some before straining, to extract as much of the essences as possible. But I'm just theorizing.

I recommend a few minutes in a saute pan, then drizzled over your favorite goat cheese for a delicious afternoon snack! It's pest control and a dessert topping!
