Back Swing Area

This old swing set was here when I move in five years ago.  Initially I wanted to take it out but it's set in concrete and I know my limitations so it just sat there looking forlorn and out of place for two years.  Then I decided to plant a rose bush underneath because I wanted roses and didn't have enough room for many.  I detached the swings and used the hooks for hanging baskets.

It finally dawned on me that I had a ready made arbor so my dad nailed some boards to the sides so I could grow the Clematis that I love.  One day after fruitlessly searching for a reasonably priced birdbath I found this  concrete one on ebay for only $9 and it was a local pickup.  I had to roll it in two sections to the back yard but I just love it.  One of a kind.

It now has 3 rose bushes, 2 blazing stars, 4 clematis, 2 hollyhocks, 1 phlox, 1 daylily and a wintersown nicotiana.  It's amazing how many plants a determined gardener can pack into a small place.

That's a great idea, and it looks great!

Wow that looks great! I love creative gardening. And reusing something you already had? even better! This definitely makes me want to be more creative with objects I use in my garden.
