First Greenlings

Wednesday, March 26th 2008, 12:17pm by Sarah O

A few weeks ago, when the weather first started warming up, I uncovered my salvia and verbena from their blanket of winter leaves. The salvia looked pretty good (they don't call it "hardy" for nothin'!) but some of the verbena was a bit worse for wear, having missed the sunshine for a little too long.

Well, the salvia is happily thriving already, and the verbena has really greened up. I think by tomorrow I'll have my first set of purple blossoms (and you'll be the first to see them, of course).

I ended up transplanting the pink verbena last fall, because the plants were creeping so rapidly I needed to give it more space. I'll be so excited if that one throws out some blooms at me, but I'm content if it stays healthy and green.

I can't wait for you to get your pictures up Sarah. I was out in the front yard this morning looking at all the plantings out there and it really does look like things are starting to bud around here. I was really excited to see some good growth on my oak leaf hydrangea. So - post some pics! :)
